Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeannie Garr Roddy.
Hi Jeannie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was born in Pasadena, California, and fell in love with Austin upon a visit to UT with my son ten years ago. After graduating from the University of Southern California, I became a Certified Public Accountant. I made a career switch and followed in my mother’s footsteps as a Real Estate Broker. My mother was in the business for close to 40 years. I am proud to say I now have over 35 years of experience, and absolutely love what I do!
Due to my CPA background, my attention to detail is meticulous. I enjoy balancing the emotional and business sides of home buying and selling as well. My clients mean the world to me, and I have made many long-term relationships I am very thankful for.
I love animals and have volunteered with many organizations over the years. I own dogs, cats, parrots and a horse.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Overall when I look back over my career, it has been smooth because I enjoy what I do so much. The challenges I have faced over the years are opportunities for growth, so I feel this attitude has gotten me through difficult times. I have seen highs and lows in the business, and somewhere I can always find a silver lining for my client and figure out new strategies as well. I have seen clients facing foreclosure, divorce, family death and other situations. The emotion of this business can be intense, but I feel my warm heart has helped my clients get through their situation as best as possible.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I live in and love the Hill Country, and list and sell real estate in and around the fantastic City of Austin. I am a Broker Associate in California and Texas and am with the #1 team in Austin – Austin Luxury Group. My love is high-end real estate, and promotion through excellent and creative marketing. I am known for my many years of experience, hard work, integrity and results. I truly care about my clients, and provide impeccable service every step of the way. My business acumen and warmth of heart is a combination that is rare, and I am proud to say this is a quality of mine.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
When I was growing up, a very successful family friend of ours always said, “The harder I work, the luckier I get.” I so agree with this! Hard work pays off in so many ways. The exciting part of it is you never know how the hard work will pay off. I have had surprises along the way, some may be quickly and others down the road, based on my hard work. Of course, sometimes bad luck can happen and there is not a lot you can do about that other than forge forward.
